So I just read a story on the interwebs and thought it would be interesting to share. This article was all about the next big thing in Television sets.
It is called UHD, or Ultra High Definition. This has also been called 4K, which is the term I had heard of before. UHD is new to me. 4K means that there are 4,000 pixels in the TV set. This new format is 4000 x 2000p, a much larger number than the standard 1920 x 1080p HD displays we are used to. In simpler terms, the more pixels, the higher the clarity. So this is a huge jump in picture sharpness.
4K cameras have been around for a little while now, and big budget films are starting to implement the technology. This ties in to yesterday’s post about the future of filmmaking as well. This new technology is the future of motion pictures.
Hearing this talk in the TV world now is exciting. Big manufacturers like Samsung and LG are starting to look into this format, and I can wait to get my hands on one. I think within the next five years, we will see a move towards UHD and HD will start becoming the old format, much like VHS and CD’s are today. The world is turning digital and gleaming with ultra clear displays, and I couldn’t be happier.
What do you think about UHD? Are you excited? Or think its a waste of time? Let me know. I’d love to hear from you. 😄
